Joyent and the Sun X4500

Welcome readers of Jonathan Schwartz’s blog. Here’s links to our experiences with the Sun X4500 (aka “Thumper”).

We built a product around it: Bingo.

We’ve run around Sun trying to get some X4500s detailed here and here.

And here are some performance numbers.

How does your new product Bingo relate to Strongspace?

Vince: Bingo uses WebDAV/HTTP for access, Strongspace uses SFTP/SSH. Bingo is single user + a public folder. Strongspace is multiuser, but no public folder. But they are both built on the Sun X4500.

Yes, I looked at the details after posting the above, but thanks for the clarification.

Hi David. Looks like an interesting product (we’re considering testing it out). One quick question – can we aggregate multiple Bingo partitions into a single multi-hundred GB storage space? (i.e. with a single billing account + login)
