Ben, Jason and David discuss Slingshot, Sun Startup Essentials, Acclerators, shared hosting on Solaris, and the virtual workplace, AND they sounded bored doing it, and I can guess why, cause it was a YAWN, one long life sapping infomercial blurb-fest – hopefully normal service will resume with episode 16.

A bit more sedate than the usual rumpus room, but informative. I liked it. (Sheesh. Pick on a company for being proud and interested in sharing the innovative work they’re doing.)

I kind of keep hoping for an exchange on one of these like this:

DAVID: So, Jason, we’ve sure had a lot of frustrated people out there in the land of shared and business hosting this week…
JASON: Well, we’re in the home stretch of the transition to Solaris, and we do have more support people coming on board. I hope folks will just hang in there with us a bit longer.
DAVID: Well, then, my question is, Ben, is there anything we can tell them in terms of a timetable?
    BEN: I think that…
JASON: They don’t want a timetable, they want some sort of freakin’ t-shirts!
DAVID: Let me just jump in here and remind you that our sponsor this week is Marin County Soy T-Shirts, ask for them by name.

(national anthem of Croatia comes up on soundtrack, way too loud.)

@jcburns: If I got a nickle for every time I thought we were “close” to releasing Shared Hosting on Solaris to the hounds, well, I’d be able to buy a Happy Meal. Seriously, making it so people can go from FreeBSD userland to Solaris has been a trick. You’ll want to listen to the podcast next week.

Why does it appear Joyent is now moderating /approving comments before they are posted to the blog?

It hasn’t always been that way. Now it takes sometimes 12-24 hours before my comments are displayed.

@Wayne, I’ve noticed I often can’t see my posts due to the way the site handles caching. Empty your cache and force a reload; you should be able to see your post.

a BIG thank-you to Joyent for toeing the line and not releasing shared hosting on solaris until it’s ready.

it’s rare folk who can withstand a constant barrage of missives (by good yet unknowing people) lamenting how long it takes to release something that they don’t grok the complexity of.

@Wayne – I think it is the caching as Geoff mentions. I thought a comment had been deleted, and immediately ranted about it on Twitter. Then, remembering a previous instance, I emptied the browser cache, reloaded, and there was my comment. Thankfully, only 1 person that I know of saw my rant before I deleted it and issued an apology.

@Wayne: I have the same frustration. We’re looking at our blog software to figure out what is going on.

    Howdy!

I just signed up to this forum! Thank you for the warm welcome…

This is actually the first time I EVER joined a forum. So excuse me if I am acting weird. I dont know the whole etiquette of forums yet;)

Let me share a bit about me:
I am Harry Collinsyoung. I studied antropology in London in the eighties. Wow what a time, but that besides this post.

I am a great addict of museums. ANY museum will get my blood flowing. But the museum that got my blood flowing most, was the sex museum I visited in Amsterdam last summes.

Esspecially their online sexshop made quite an impression on me (and my wife for that matter lol). The most impressive thing I saw was a voorbinddildo kopen. Wow imagine them using that thing.

Well anyway I will keep you updated with my adventures!

    See ya soon!
