One question I had that I hadn’t heard/read the answer to:
You guys waited 3 years to release the source under a free/open license (GPLv2). Looking back, would you say now that you a) could’ve/should’ve released it sooner? Or b) that the 3 years you spent as the exclusive vendor for Connector (and the associated revenue) was necessary to bootstrap the development/growth of the product? or c) some other issue lead you to keep it behind closed doors for so long?
I completely applaud the decision, but I’m just curious as to some of the background on the business side about what kept you from releasing it sooner.
Joyent Cloud is Joyent's public cloud, built and running on top of SmartDataCenter -- the only public cloud running on software we entirely built ourselves.

@Cameron: the code sucked, until recently. One doesn’t walk on the beach naked unless studly.
I’m not joking.
